The Role:
At Barrel, the CRO Strategist leads conversion rate optimization and A/B testing across our client accounts. This is a hands on, analytical role focused on improving Shopify website performance through research, testing, and clear strategic thinking.
You’ll work closely with strategy, design, development, and account teams to identify opportunities, define priorities, and turn insights into measurable improvements. You’ll help clients understand how CRO and thoughtful experimentation support broader business goals.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys ownership, thinks in systems, and can balance execution with strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish CRO KPIs and build A/B testing roadmaps for newly launched and existing Shopify websites
- Audit websites and provide strategic recommendations based on UX best practices, usability standards, and performance data
- Use GA4, Shopify analytics, and qualitative tools to identify conversion and engagement opportunities
- Plan, run, and analyze A/B and multivariate testing initiatives
- Clearly define, report, and present test performance and learnings to clients
- Partner with designers and developers to implement CRO strategies and experiments
- Develop internal and client facing POVs, guidelines, and templates related to CRO, performance tracking, and testing
- Support SEO strategy by identifying growth opportunities through content audits, site structure review, and traffic analysis
- Collaborate with client teams to align CRO and SEO efforts with broader business goals
- Stay current on CRO, Shopify, and digital marketing best practices to continuously improve our approach
Skills:
- Strong hands on experience across the CRO lifecycle, from research through testing and analysis
- Proven experience running A/B testing programs and building testing roadmaps
- Comfortable working with GA4, Shopify analytics, and qualitative research tools
- Ability to turn data into clear insights and actionable recommendations
- Clear written and verbal communicator, especially in client facing settings
- Ownership mindset with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Collaborative and comfortable working across strategy, design, and development
Experience:
- Experience working with ecommerce brands, preferably on Shopify
- Agency experience is a plus
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms such as VWO, Convert, or similar tools
